Australia is a priority market for HSBC’s Global Banking business and we have an opportunity for an experienced Associate to join our Multinationals Team in Sydney. Taking on this role, you will support a Senior Relationship Manager in the Multinationals team covering complex clients with international exposure across 11 countries including a number listed on the ASX. The sectors covered include infrastructure, construction and utilities and you will have a focus on sustainability offerings across bank debt, DCM and bank guarantees.

This role presents a fantastic hands-on opportunity for the right individual to develop their relationship skills whilst being exposed to the full range of institutional banking products and services.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the primary point of contact for key clients and internal colleagues both locally and internationally across a wide range of product and administrative matters.
  • Establishing strong and close working relationships with key individuals in clients’ management team.
  • Assisting with marketing opportunities, undertaking appropriate analysis and preparation of proposals, presentations and pitches for new products and services.
  • Monitoring income generation and effectively managing the financial reporting and analysis for the client portfolio including covenant monitoring.
  • Assisting with the development and maintenance of individual client plans
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the job holder is involved.
Requirements

To be successful in this role you will require:

  • Solid experience dealing with corporate/institutional clients.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong and up to date industry knowledge across broad industry sectors
  • A keen interest in market and specific client developments in order to take a pro-active role in prospecting early for new business opportunities.
  • Ability to balance and address conflicting priorities amongst Global Banking clients and internal business requirements.
  • Able to manage the role’s workflow through strong organisational skills and time management, to ensure all reviews and returns are submitted within required timeframe.
  • Understanding of compliance obligations, risk management and credit mitigants.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline is preferred.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian or New Zealand PR/Citizenship, or who can show they currently have unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
