Entity and activity description

The Strategic Planning and Operations Control Team is a key contributor to the success of the Large Industries North American Cluster (LI-NAM) objectives by ensuring meaningful support to the LI-NAM Leadership Team through in-depth analysis and performance monitoring.

This Ops Control team of six supports the LI business in the US. There are five team members located in Houston, TX and one member in the BSC located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The language is predominantly English.

Missions and Responsibilities

In this role of Business Analyst, you will get the opportunity to learn about Operations Controls. Essentially, your responsibilities include:

  • Engage in monthly financial close processes and reporting
  • Maintain, update, and report the Energy Contribution (EC) Model using new NEXUS platform & explain energy pricing and volume impacts
  • Monitor and report primary drivers of efficiency project savings within LI NAM
  • Manage liquid shipment and delivery transactions through LI Billing and cost validation
  • Monitor plant liquid inventory reporting in collaboration with accounting team and plant operators
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis for Operations Control business analysts, LI leadership team, and external customers such as an audit team
  • Prepare strategic presentations on various topics (market analysis, sales performance...)
  • Participate in the development of a new IT reporting systems including the creation and distribution of Power BI dashboards
  • Perform monthly close activities as required (Market Analysis, dashboards, etc)

The ideal candidate has a Master degree in Finance and/or Engineering with specialisation in Chemistry and/or Chemicals.

You are the ideal candidate if you possess:

  • Ability to work safely and complies with Air Liquide policies and procedures
    Proficiency with accounting rules and financial analysis
  • Commitment to uncompromising accuracy in data management
  • Ability to recognize information needed for effective analysis; captures relevant data, transfers into concise reports
  • Flexibility to accommodate financial planning, reporting and monthly close deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively with different organizations to gather required data in a timely manner as well as present relevant information
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides as well as Microsoft Excel and their functions
  • Ability to function in a team environment with extensive flexibility and limited supervision; must be a self-motivator
  • At least 52 weeks of working experience
  • Fluency in English is mandatory

Position based in Houston, Texas for a period of 18 months.
