Meadow ward - Penn Hospital - flexible working - FT/PT (dept is VERY flexible and can normally fit your needs into any shift patterns)

Meadow Ward, based at Penn Hospital, is a purpose built unit designed to meet the mental health needs of older people who require inpatient admission using a person centred approach to care.
A person centred approach to all care planning, interactions and activities is advocated throughout the hospital.
The multi-disciplinary team is made up of nurses, medics, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and psychologist.
Main duties of the job
- Care planning and evaluation in collaboration with the patient and/or their carers and working in a named nurse capacity.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Flexibility and problem solving.
- Developing meaningful therapeutic relationships with patients and/or their carers as part of the named nurse role.
- Working as part of team while also using own initiative when necessary.
- Working in the role of Nurse in Charge of shifts; delegating and coordinating shifts.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Participate in clinical and managerial supervision.
- Willingness to develop skills, knowledge and understanding.
- Understand legislation, guidelines and recommendations around older adult’s mental health.
- Work together with patients and/or their carers in a least restrictive way and understand the principles of best interest.
- Ability to effectively assess risk and ways to mitigate risk within an inpatient environment.
