Congregation Emanu-El is a reputed company based in Victoria, BC. We are looking for talented professional from the field of Business Management to join our team as Office Manager.

About Us:

Congregation Emanu-El is a progressive, egalitarian Conservative synagogue in downtown Victoria. We’re a thriving Jewish community of over 250 member families. Congregation Emanu-El offers religious services, Hebrew School, adult education opportunities for religious, language, and cultural learning, and pastoral care within a warm and welcoming community.

We are looking for an experienced, organized, approachable, and professional Office Manager.

Job description includes but not limited to:

  • Welcoming and scheduling Congregation members, guests, vendors, maintenance workers and visitors
  • Setting up ‘Shul Cloud’ accounts and taking financial information for membership fees and donations
  • Responding to general inquiries
  • Receiving and distributing mail
  • Preparing documents as requested by Rabbis and Administrator
  • Organizing and overseeing the activities of office volunteers
  • Maintaining and updating physical and electronic records as required
  • Liaising with Administrator, Rabbi, Bookkeeper, Board
  • General office administrative support such as file maintenance and database management

Key Qualifications and Qualities:

  • Must have considerable office and reception experience performing similar duties.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; able to learn new programs easily (our synagogue uses ShulCloud software--training will be provided
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates integrity and trust
  • Organized, able to multitask, attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Familiarity with social media a plus (appropriate personal use is essential)
  • Familiarity with Jewish culture, religion, and life-cycle events is an asset but not a requirement.
