Department

MAINTENANCE

Primary purpose of job

Understands and work with Instrument and control system related to Turbine for Power Generator and process Gas

compressor, Compressors, Glycol Dehydration Package, PLC based control system. Separator / Test separator in Oil

production facility, NGL separator / Knock out drum, Pumps and Exchangers, utilities and Packages such as Power

Generation, Instrument Air, Chlorination units. BA Cascade system, Water Maker, Nitrogen Generator, HVAC, Cranes, PLC

or Computer based ESD system. DCS , safety system including Fire & Gas, Smoke detection (HSSD) and display, Deluge

and Water Mist activation and their related instrumentations.

Carry out Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules for instrument and associated control components on the Satellite

Wellhead Jackets according to the approved maintenance routines procedures. Checks test results and provide written and

verbal feedback to the Instrument engineer on the status of the equipments. Ensure check lists are filled, job done logged,

outlining resources and material used. Ensure work order is reported in maintenance management system (MMS) update

material receiving and dispatch, maintain material inventory and log in the material register and in workshop computer.

Check Safety system including calibration of flammable & toxic gas sensors, smoke / Fire / Heat detectors and automatic

activation of fire fighting and related alarm and display.

Investigate and troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and instrument control system. Identify and replace faulty module,

sensor in the electronic instrument or Microprocessor or PLC based control system as detailed in paragraph “d” using

vendor’s manual, drawings and test instruments.

Uses basic programming instructions to check, identify and repair faults in hardware such as PC’s, VDU monitors and

printers required for operator display console.

Strip down and overhaul control valves, choke valves, ESD valves, solenoid valves and other major instruments in the

Workshop ensuring proper operation before handing over to production.

Carries out regular visual inspection pf all instrumentation and associated control system in the assigned location to monitor

the abnormal indication and operation of instruments and control equipment. Discusses with Instrument engineer to raise

the necessary work notification / work order for remedial actions.

Carries out modifications or installation of new instrument / equipment control system, commission units, functionally testing

out the operation.

Experience & Skills

At least five (5) years experience in installation, maintenance, repair and trouble shooting of instrumentation system within

the Petrochemical or Petroleum Offshore Industry. Of this period, at least two (2) years should have been with PLC /

Computer base instrumentation and control system (RTU & MTU).

Education

Completion of secondary twelve (12) years education, followed by two (2) years full time training in Industrial Electronic

Instrumentation trade (equivalent to City & Guilds).
