The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is a reputed company based in Harlow CM20. We are looking for talented professional from the field of Environment/ Health & Safety to join our team as Anti-microbial Support Pharmacist.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Pharmacy team as an Anti-Microbial Support Pharmacist.

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and self-motivated pharmacist to support the Anti-Microbial Lead Pharmacist, and you should be a keen learner, passionate about your clinical development and able to communicate well at all levels.

You will:

  • Support the work of the Anti-Microbial Lead Pharmacist and to deputise in their absence.
  • Work closely with the Anti-Microbial Lead Pharmacist to assist in the achievement of short and long term objectives relating to optimal use of anti-microbials.
  • Promote the safe, effective and economic use of anti-microbial drugs within the hospital.
  • Work as part of the Pharmacy team to provide an effective and professional pharmacy service in the Pharmacy Dispensary, Clinical Pharmacy Services and Medicine Information

The post will include an emergency duty commitment subject to department requirements. Whilst the time allocated to each activity will vary according to the needs of the service, it is anticipated that at least 0.5 WTE will be spent on the anti-microbial component of this job.

  • To monitor anti-microbial use within the hospital and promote safe and effective prescribing:
  • Participate in the provision of Clinical Pharmacy services to other wards/departments
  • To work as part of the Pharmacy Team in the professional provision of a dispensary based Pharmacy service
  • To follow all Health and Safety standards in compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
  • Carry out the following in all areas of Pharmacy to: stock control, follow SOPs, Housekeeping duties, Waste disposal, Statutory mandatory training etc
  • To undertake on-call pharmacy duties
  • To undertake the Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy Practice and non medical prescribing qualification
  • To maintain registration, as a pharmacist, with the General Pharmaceutical Council, and to act in accordance with the code of ethics.
